Mighty Mighty Marching Band

Friday was homecoming here. As promised, I tried hard to muster up some people to march in the parade. I managed to get 10 total, or 1.5% of the student body. We had a hilarious combo: Two banner holders (for our College banner, which was once a tablecloth), a candy hander-outer, two trumpets, a clarinet, a washboard (a girl I'm friends with, Nina, played washboard in a band and had a very elaborate setup complete with bike horns, mini drums, symbols...) and a guy playing a pot. Also, we somehow attracted a medieval clown with a flute who came along with us. Together we learned the Scrubs theme-song and played the chorus every 20 ft. A raging success!

On game day, I awoke to snow. Wha? That's early, even for Iowa. I can't pretend to understand, but it did manage to melt as it hit the ground, so that's a start. I will NOT shovel in October.

We began the dog grooming cycle again. Naomi and I realize it's time when we both wake up with allergy and asthma problems. "Hey, maybe the dogs are hideously dirty?" Now they smell like Herbal Essence and look ridiculous. It's a battle that will probably be waged for the next several days.

Okay, time to study Pharm. I have a meager 300 drugs to memorize for Friday!

Oh the Humanity!

I've been spending 14 hours a day at the medical school. It doesn't make for very interesting reading, really. It's looking like next week holds the same fantastic time-table. Hooray!

On the plus side, we're going to ROME! Grueling work seems easier when you have a bright horizon. We're heading out over Thanksgiving break. Finally, I'll get to see all sorts of old stuff that I spent so much of my undergrad learning about. That country is just crawling with art.

I'm trying to think if there is anything else I can write about that isn't related to Pathology. There's plenty to talk about there...oh yeah! This friday I will be leading a rag-tag marching band in a parade around the downtown area. I was volunteered to create a band to represent the college of medicine in the University of Iowa Homecoming parade. We'll be playing some sort of song, though I don't know what. I'm also not sure how many people are going to be participating. It might just be me out there. I'll see if I can get some pictures. :)

Okay, I'm tired as hell. I've written something, which is a good start.
